Finepix S5600 – Takes great pictures but…

…there are always a few little things that could be improved.
My list of improvements for the S5600 would include:
- A dial to make adjustments rather than using the 4 way controller. Perhaps it’s my fingers but trying to make adjustments to aperture or shutter-speed with the camera up to my eye is just to difficult. A front or real dial to make these adjustments would just be so much easier.
- There are just to many menu clicks required to change the ISO. I find the need to change this quite often especially in low-light situations and it’s just to fiddly. A dedicated button in conjunction with the dial mentioned above would be brilliant.
- Auto ISO in Aperture and Shutter Priority modes. Why does Auto ISO only work in the scene modes? I can see no technical reason at all why this couldn’t be enabled for other modes as it is on many cameras.
- Better manual focus control. I’ve had a few goes but I just can’t get to grips with it.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had lots of fun with my S5600 and it takes some great pictures but it could have been so much nicer to use just by improving the controls.

Meet Duchess the African elephant at Paignton Zoo in Devon. She shares her enclosure with an Indian elephant but Duchess with her tusks and beautiful wrinkly skin is my favourite.

Picture #43 – Baby Rhino

You may have seen in the news recently that a baby rhino was born at Paignton Zoo in Devon. Well I was lucky enough to be there seven days after the birth and managed to grab a few shots. The image quality is rubbish as they were taken with the camera held well above my head and everything was set to auto but what the hell I got the shot!

We had a lovely clear sky for the lunar eclipse last night so it was out with the tripod to see if I could grab a few nice moon shots. Here are a couple that I think came out okay.
