This picture was taken in the Benalmadena Sea Life centre and shows the low light capabilities of the S5600. The room was effectively dark except for the light coming from the aquarium holding the eels. I used manual mode and set the aperture to f/3.2 and the shutter speed to 1/30th second. I then just kept increasing the ISO value until the exposure meter centred itself at ISO 800. The image is exactly as downloaded from the camera, i.e. no noise reduction, levels, or colour adjustment. The camera was also handheld as I couldn’t make room to pack the tripod for the trip.

I know I posted a crocodile picture yesterday but I think they are just great creatures – a part of the past in the present – so here are some more. The power of these reptiles is just amazing. One of the park keepers who gave us a short talk also got into the enclosure with them armed only with a short stick. He went up to one of about 3 metres and just tapped it gently on the nose. The speed and the noise of the crocodiles jaw snapping together was just incredible, you certainly wouldn’t want to be between them.
