If you want the chance to take some pictures of Little Egrets in Cornwall then make a visit to Padstow on the river Camel estuary. This picture was taken from the roadway where the Camel Trail cycle way starts. If I’d had more time it would have been easy to get much closer and get a decent backdrop but it was a case of get a quick shot and move on.

Here’s the first posted picture taken with my new Tamron 18-250mm zoom lens. I used the lens for the first time last weekend and so far so good. It’s quite a bit bigger around than the kit 50-200mm lens and feels a bit heavier but as a walkabout lens I think it’s going to be perfect. It’s great to have access to a larger zoom range again without swapping lenses.

This picture was taken at the full extent of the 250mm zoom but to my eye it still looks pretty good. If you’re interested in the full EXIF info and want to see a larger view then click through to my Zenfolio gallery.

I took this on ‘Old MacDonalds Farm’ in Cornwall during the Easter break. I’m pleased with how it came out as it was taken through a chicken wire fence. I just got the camera up as close to the wire as possible and hoped for the best. Unfortunately I don’t know what sort of owl it is so if anyone knows please leave a comment – thanks.

I took this one earlier in the year sitting outside a cafe in Padstow. The robins and sparrows there are not wary of humans at all and will take food off the table if you sit still.
